Havenhill
Barn name: Harlan
Age: March 22, 2016
Height: 16h, string tests to 16.1 1/2
Pedigree
Race record: 18 starts, $60,070 in earnings, 2 win, 3 place, 5 show
Equibase Profile
RRP eligible: Yes
Harlan was carefully and thoughtfully bred, raised, and raced by his team and retired sound simply because he wasn't interested in racing hard anymore. Out of boredom, he started to let his competitors catch up before accelerating again. Needless to say, Harlan is a very smart dude who loves a challenge and should love the complexity and variety of being a sport horse. His ground manners are impeccable and he hauls like a gentleman. It is obvious that his trainer at the track taught him to be a consummate professional. Harlan is dearly loved by his racing connections and therefore comes with his own fan club that will continue to follow his sport horse career! He will not be sold to anyone that intends to flip him quickly. Special considerations to buyer interested competing in the Retired Racehorse Project. No vices. No injuries.

Hillside Luna Lovegood
Barn name: Luna
Age: 2005
Height: 14.1 hands
Breed: Quarter Horse/Welsh Pony
Luna is a beautiful, VERY smart and talented pony. She would be a fun all around pony for someone: poles, barrells, 4-H, games, jumper, eventer, trails ect. She has been schooled up to 3'6" in the arena and has schooled Novice cross country questions with exceptional boldness. Luna has been to many shows with young students where she is always in the ribbons. She has lots of energy but can also be very patient with walk/trot students on the lunge line. Dressage is her weakest phase and would excel with additional training. Luna is an easy keeper and is barefoot with feet her farrier describe as 'ideal.' Her ideal rider would be a petite adult who is familiar with a pony mare with her own opinion. Luna is a mild cribber but does not wear a collar and has not damaged any fencing.

Hillside Leo
Barn name: Leo
Age: 2011
Height: 16.1 hands
Breed: TB
Pedigree: http://www.pedigreequery.com/where+i+come+from
Racing Record: unraced
Leo has a fantastic sporthorse pedigree and the athleticism and personality to go with it! He has the most handsome TB head we have ever seen! The icing on the cake being that he is one of the sweetest horses in the barn! Leo's trainer at Churchill Downs felt that Leo would be a talented racehorse if he was given some time to grow yet his owner was not willing to wait so he was retired. His loss is our gain! He has enjoyed the winter and spring off, is sound and is starting slow and steady training as a sporthorse! Leo is proving to be the most balanced young horse Megan has ever ridden, to have an exceptional work ethic, three lovely gaits and while a puppy dog on the ground, he is forward under saddle. This combination of traits makes a FABULOUS young prospect.

Barn name: Crusoe
Age: 2010
Height: 15.3
Pedigree: http://www.pedigreequery.com/imaginary+island
Racing Record: 8 starts, 1 first, 0 seconds, 1 third, $23,720 in earnings
Crusoe is the sweetest horse in the barn. Even at the track, Crusoe behaved like a puppy dog and was extremely easy to handle. His temperament makes him suitable for a young rider or amateur. Crusoe is enjoying the winter off and is happily turned out barefoot with the other ottbs. He is not dominant in the pasture but is not picked on either. Crusoe finished his racing career sound but did undergo surgery for roaring. Dr. Spirito of Hagyard Equine Medical Institute performed a right and left sided arytenoidectomy/ventriculocordectomy without complication or residual side effects. Crusoe returned to racing after surgery but was not fast enough and was retired. There is no reason he should not continue onto a successful sport horse career! He would be a lovely event or hunter prospect and has started his retraining.

Solo Mia
Barn name: Mia
Age: 2003
Height: 15.2 hands
Breed: Quarter Horse
Mia was started as a 2 year old by Hub who then bought her for Megan because he was so impressed with her athleticism and intellect. Her training has been furthered by Megan as an event horse. Mia is a quick study and puts 110% effort into her job. Two international event riders both said of Mia, "Is she always this brave?" on separate occasions after watching her school cross country. Mia is a fierce competitor who is very business like in the dressage and stadium arenas and has given Megan the funnest XC rides of her life. She is quiet on hacks, self-loads into the trailer, and stands for clipping and the farrier like an angel. Mia has great feet and goes barefoot without issue in the winter. Mia is best suited with a petite rider who is familiar with a hotter mare.
PLACINGS:
Learn To Event 4/2010: 3rd and one point behind tie for 1st in Tadpole division. Finished on dressage score of 31
Wolf Gap CT 4/2010: 1st, SR BN. Third lowest dressage score and one of only two horses to have no XC
jump penalties in a field 25 at the BN level.

Ennis was sent to Megan by her brother in law who is a jockey at Prairie Meadows. Ennis was in race training but was too slow for a debut on the track. Pedigree: http://www.pedigreequery.com/old+harley
Racing Record: 30 starts $22,933
Harley is a lovely mover with correct conformation. His face is so cute it will make you melt in your boots! He has been off the track for a year trail riding including jumping small logs and swimming in the river. He has 30 starts being raced from two to five years old and his legs are clean and tight. His sire, Minardi, is a distance turf runner that was exported to New Zealand and is known for throwing talented dressage and event horses. Harley will be spending some time gaining weight and being desensitized. Don't over look this guy because he's not 16 hands. Just remember that big things come in small packages!

Hillside Gemma

Age: 2008
Height: 16 hands
Breed: TB
Pedigree: http://www.pedigreequery.com/keystone+girl
Racing Record: unraced
Gemma, bred by Dr. Chandler DVM of Mill Ridge Farm, was galloped in a field and was so slowed she never even made it to the track to start her proper race training. She was retired 100% sound to the pasture where she has been barefoot and an easy keeper. Gemma has a substantial build that makes her seem larger than 16 hands. Her feet are large and solid. She has a gorgeous thick mane and tail as well! She was perfectly well mannered for her first ride at HHF. She stood quietly while mounted then walked, trotted and cantered on a loose rein in the field. She has started jumping under saddle and is very willing and has a very beautiful bascule to her jump. She has lovely sweeping hunter movement and her gaits are dreamily comfortable. The first day she was turned out with the other mares, they flocked around her and she walked off and grazed by herself. She has a mare opinion but will work hard when given a clear direction.

He has had no injuries and his legs are clean and tight. He has already had several months off in the pasture at Mill Ridge. Nico was quiet and easy for his first ride off the track. Sparky is a special boy! Not only is he a lovely mover and a careful and scopey jumper, he is an angel! He has been a perfect gentleman since arriving at HHF. I took him off the farm for his first ride where he loaded and unloaded of my step down trailer, cross tied, stood while mounted, walked/trotted/cantered quietly in a new arena, and then stood tied to the trailer without pawing or calling while I rode two more horses. What a saint!! He has just started jumping under saddle is VERY willing, bold and careful. His dam sire is Marquetry, who is known for throwing foals with excellent temperments. Sparky is on the smaller side, but he has a huge heart and is itching to be someone's sport horse. He would be a perfect project for a teen or adult amateur rider because he is a perfect mix of quiet yet athletic.

Ilsa is one of my favorite mares of all time! She is kind with a excellent work ethic and one of the best TB minds I've encountered. I was hired to get Ilsa fit to go back to the track after some time off. I rode her for 8 weeks and fell in love with her 'let's go somewhere and do something' attitude. After racing poorly two more times and lots of calls to her owner to check on her, she finally came to HHF to stay! Ilsa is currently gaining weight and going on long hacks and is loving every minute of being off the track! She has no vices and is completely sound. She is a forward, brave mare who is a lovely mover and happily goes on the aids.

Gwen is the newest addition to HHF. She has presence to spare! Although she is a mare, she hasn't acted like it. There has been no squealing when you groom her belly or when the geldings nuzzle her over the fence. Her first ride, as you can see in the video below, was quite uneventful. She has been a pleasure to deal with in the barn and has settled in well in the pasture. Gwen is clean legged, sound, and ready to start her training as a sport horse! She will need to be paired with a rider with some experience with green horses due to her self-confident attitude and age. This horse is special, folks, and is loaded with upper level potential.

Congratulations to C3 Pony Clubber Grace Butler of Leipers Fork, TN!

History: Chehon came to me from his owner/breeder. He is Jockey Club registered as Claymiester, named after his breeder's son, Clay, because the colt was his favorite. Chehon had colic surgery as a yearling. His stomach was bandaged for a month and left a few white scars along his back. He was raced 11 times and was retired sound because he was slow. He is shod in front and barefooted behind.
In the barn: Chehon is very easy to handle. He ties, loves to be groomed and stands quietly to have his mane pulled. He has no vices. He eats well and is slowly gaining weight.
In the pasture: Chehon is not dominant. He is turned out with two other OTTB geldings and transitioned to 24/7 turnout with ease.
Under saddle: Chehon has a very steady rhythm under saddle. He picks up both leads with out a problem. He has just started jumping and is quick to process the necessary footwork and is very careful. He has a big, panther-like walk with significant overstep. There is a lot of hock action in his trot and he has a very balanced canter. After working, he is happy to stand quietly and cock a hind leg to rest. He would be suitable for a young or amature rider in a program.

Lancet's previous owner is veterinarian Dr. John Chandler of Mill Ridge Farm in Lexington, KY. This mare was meticulously cared for and only raced 5 times including one win. She has had no injuries and her legs are clean and tight. When Megan saw this stunning black mare walk out of her stall at Mill Ridge and stand quietly with a kind eye she said, "I'll take her!" She walked right on and off the trailer and has been very easy to handle in the barn. Lizzie is an expressive mover and careful over fences. She is easy to handle in the barn and has no vices. She is not a nervous horse and seems to problem solve in a level headed manner. She is not a squealy mare type, although, she is a mare would rather be loyal to one handler and will try her hardest to please you once you earn her trust. She will smoothly pick up her right lead under-saddle. Lizzie has just started being retrained as a sport horse and her price will increase at the first of the month, so buy this gorgeous prospect now!

Gryffindor's Lion
Griffy is a 15.2 hand Percheron/Quarter Horse gelding foaled in 2006. Megan started him undersaddle as a 3 year old and enjoyed him so much that she didn't want him to go back to his owner! Two years later, his owner called and asked if she wanted to buy him and Megan snatched him back up. Griffy has been trail ridden for the past couple years and isn't phased by traffic, loves water, and is very curious about anything new. He is an absolute teddy bear who loves to please. Griffy has great feet, is barefoot, and could event barefoot. He straight, clean legs with lots of bone. He has been started over fences and has already gone to his first jumper show doing two 2' classes! Griffy is gaining muscle rapidly and may still have some room left to grow an inch or so. Megan now has him in full training.
Po'okela
Pom Pom is a 16 hand TB mare foaled in 2007 . She is unraced. Her pedigree is listed under her Jockey Club name, Sunshine Kelly. Pom Pom is a beautiful, quiet, affectionate horse with true sport horse potential. She has been through the jump chute several times to learn her gymnastic footwork. She jumps bounces to 3'6" oxers with minimal effort. Pom Pom has hacked down the road and encountered all sorts of traffic without batting an eye! She has a very business like attitude and is now in consistant dressage training and has just started going over small jumps undersaddle.
