Hillside Haven Farm is a small family farm who hand picks quality Thoroughbreds and sells them as sport horse prospects. We have many testimonials from happy clients because, instead of simply selling horses, our goal is to match-make horses and riders and produce successful long term partnerships. If you are searching for your next competition partner, we would be happy to talk about our horses with you and help in any way we can!

Meet Arrrgh! Yes, that's his name! As a racehorse, Arrrgh was trained by Jeremiah O'Dwyer, husband of a friend, for three starts but wasn't quite fast enough. Upon retirement, he was sent to John Crowell who let him down for a little over a year at his and Dorothy Crowell's beautiful farm in Frankfort. When John became interim executive director of the Kentucky Horse Park, he became too busy to retrain Arrrgh. I bought Arrrgh from John in July 2020. We considered keeping Arrrgh as my husband Hub's personal horse, but Hub simply doesn't have time to ride consistently. Since Arrrgh has been at Hillside Haven, we've done extensive ground work and some basic flat and jump training. He LOVES to jump and shows a natural talent with super technique and quick footwork. Arrrgh is forward without being hot. He has good feet and is happy barefoot. He is super balanced and can canter and counter canter a 20 meter circle (not easy for an OTTB!). Jumps right on the trailer. Hacks quietly down the road and is good to pony. He has a big personality that I always look forward to interacting with in the barn. No vices or major injuries. Retired from racing sound. Arrrgh is a confident pirate that needs someone comfortable keeping him in line so experienced horse people only!
