Reading the blog Three Days Three Ways today, I came across this quote from Olympic Silver medalist, Gina Miles, "You gotta work really hard and work harder than the next guy and if you don’t like the result go home and work harder. And if you do like the results you still have to go home and work harder."
Oh, and there's this: (bold hers not mine):
Q. How would you describe eventers?
A. Of course they’re the best! The sport of eventing is so humbling you can be on top of the world then the bottom of the pack more so than other disciplines. Eventing is more extreme in highs and lows. The character of the eventer is you have to roll with the punches or you don’t make it. The others get weeded out. It’s a tough sport mentally so if don’t have the right attitude you don’t make it. Eventers are down to earth, do it yourself, get up and dust yourself off, kind of group. Those are great qualities."
VERY funny because just yesterday I was thinking "Roll With The Punches" would be a great name for Flo's foal. Gina also says this about event horses, "In theatre you call them triple threats: someone who can sing and act and dance. That’s where I see eventers going. You have to be a triple threat."
That would be a cool name, "Triple Threat." You would have to cross your fingers and hope that the horse lived up to the name!
