I clipped Flo's tail yesterday! I washed it then rode her, dressage school (rusty, very rusty), and then clipped it once it was dry. I forgot to take a before picture, sorry! I didn't clip all the way down. I left a bit of fluff that grew out from last season. The sun was setting and I was losing light, so I stopped before I did anything I regretted! I will have to check it out today and see if I need to just go ahead and clip the last inch or two of fluff so it doesn't look funny. I also banged her tail, which makes me very happy. It's like eating chocolate or getting a back rub. Instant gratification, mmm. I've been pulling her mane a little bit every day too. She can be a mongrel about having her mane pulled so I don't torture her (or myself) by doing it all at once. I just stay patient and feed her mints when she stands quietly and do one pass up her mane per day. She's starting to look like a show horse again!
I tied Pom Pom up to the tree with the tie blocker as I rode Flo. She was spooked by the neighbors dog barking at a hawk searching for dinner in the field next door and freaked out and decided she no longer wanted to be tied to the tree. She pulled back to the end of her lead rope and was off. Oh, Pom Pom. Yesterday was the first of many days that you will spend being tied to the tree, my friend. I caught her and tied her back up and later gave her a mint and let her go when she was standing quietly.
