I jumped Flo at the house for the first time since November! The grass is starting to grow, it's getting warmer...Megan is happy. You know when I'll be REALLY happy? When those precious little yellow buttercups magically appear. Then I will know it is all going to be OK.
Flo was a bit fiesty. Rarely does she buck, but she did yesterday. She was being half sassy mare and half I LOVE to jump. She's so complicated. I love that mare.
I also lunged Mia as the sun was setting. I put her side reins on and lunged her on the side of a slope. I wanted to challenge her to keep her balance on a slope as she kept a connection with the side reins. I thought she would be a bit more wild on the lunge line, but she tired quickly and was well behaved. She picked up the left lead going right a few times and cross cantered a few times which are things we are addressing by trying to improve her overall balance. I can't wait to see what her muscling and balance will look like at the end of the season. This is Mia's year! Yes, I declare this "Year of the Red-Headed Mare!"
